Microsoft said on Friday that it will release Office 2010 to manufacturing in April and provide businesses with copies of the latest Office suite on May 12.

Last month Neowin revealed Microsoft's plans for the guarantee program. Customers who purchase Office 2007, or a new PC with Office 2007, and activate it between March 5, 2010 and September 30, 2010 will be offered a free upgrade to Office 2010. Copies will be available online, via download, at no additional cost.
Fark confirmed that Microsoft is on target for an Office 2010 next month. "we're excited to confirm that Office 2010, SharePoint 2010, Visio 2010 and Project 2010 are on schedule and will release to manufacturing (RTM) next month."
Microsoft also officially confirmed that the business launch for Office 2010 is on May 12. Consumers will not be able to purchase the product until June. Although Microsoft officials will not confirm the exact date, Neowin firmly believes this will be June 15. Monkey_Bites has posted an article about Internet Explorer 9 and what we can expect from it. Microsoft is expected to push IE9 with force at its MIX conference in about a week and a half. Microsoft will showcase early builds of IE9 and some of the features we can expect from it.
There are two sessions scheduled for MIX that are believed to foreshadow what's to come. One is called HTML5 Now: The Future of Web Markup Today. The other is entitled Future of Vector Graphics for the Web. These sessions, in conjunction with previous information from the IE team, lead many to believe that IE9 will support HTML5 in a much broader sense than IE8 did. In addition, we can expect to see better CSS support and overall standards compliance.Monkey_Bites explains why the above sessions are a tell-all:
"Couple these clues with a post from the IE team on its official blog late last year about increased JavaScript rendering speeds and CSS support, and the team’s recent push to provide better support for SVG graphics and animations, it looks like IE 9 will present a huge step forward for Microsoft into the realm of HTML5, CSS 3 and other modern technologies that drive the most forward-thinking web apps."
Molly Holzschlag, who will be giving the HTML5 presentation, says she expects Microsoft to push more support for HTML5, saying, "look especially for Microsoft to be working on browser storage and other HTML5 features." Microsoft has not made any other comments on the matter.

Mozilla has been hard at work since releasing the first alpha of Firefox 4.0 (which is still named 3.7 for some reason). Similar to Chrome and Internet Explorer 8, which separate tabs into different processes, Mozilla has been planning on separating tabs, as well as add-ons, in the same way. The idea, as a whole, is being called "Electrolysis" and will be one of the most important features of Firefox 4.0.
Mozilla has released a second developer preview of Firefox 4.0 which contains a piece of the Electrolysis project. Dubbed "Out-of-Process Plugins," the new feature will ensure that plugins don't bring down the entire browser. When a plugin, such as Flash, crashes, the user's session will stay intact, leaving the plugin to be dealt with on it its own. Firefox will terminate the problematic plugin and then restart it automatically. The browser will also display a nice little error message, telling the user to refresh the page (see below). Some of the other performance improvements found in the new alpha release are:

Link history lookup removed from main thread and made asynchronous
Loading HTML5 spec no longer causes long pauses
Layout performance improvements (DOM access time, color management, text area, etc.)
JavaScript engine improvements (better string handling, faster closures, support for recursion)
Many new features for developers
If you want to test run Firefox 4.0 alpha 2, use the links below. Keep in mind that this is a very early preview and should not be used as your primary browser.

Today Opera released Opera 10.50, claiming it to be the worlds fastest browser for Windows computers. Opera 10.50 includes a new sleek, refined design, including private browsing, so users can surf anonymously.
Opera’s new menu button replaces the traditional way users are used to seeing toolbars, by stacking all the contents in a neat and organized drop down menu. Aero Glass has been enabled for Windows Vista / 7 users, allowing them to take full advantage of the clean, transparent borders. Opera even allows users to use the Windows 7 jump list, for quick and easy access to recent pages, Speed Dial, and tasks.
Opera 10.50 also includes old favourites like Opera Turbo, just turn this feature on when your bandwidth is slowing to a crawl, and let Opera’s servers handle the web content. Opera Unite, a content sharing feature, without the need to upload to social networks. Last, but not least, Opera Link, a synchronizing feature that allows you to share Speed Dial, notes, search-engine preferences and more features onto any Opera web browser and even Opera Mini.
Opera also includes the latest HTML5 and CSS3 standards, allowing web designers to utilize the great new features and design the perfect webpage for visitors.
Opera 10.50 is currently only available for Windows, in 42 different languages. Opera will be available for Mac and Linux soon.
